New Site to watch and new Wallpapers

29 Sep

I’m combining a few posts here. I was on NevOn (scriptygoddess had mentioned this site – I think) and he mentioned this site for it’s wallpapers (desktops) and icons. I must admit that there are some really nice looking desktops/wallpapers there.

CMS Styles

29 Sep

I’ve been reading scriptygoddess’s blog for a long time and she once again has posted a very interesting link. This one is to cms styles which is a site that has a number of styles and instructions for using the styles in blog sites. I’m sure you can use them for just about any site…

More pcworld tools

28 Sep

Here is another set of tools that I found in the PCWorld mag. I think this will be the last post from this mag. I don’t normally read PCWord, but I’ll keep my mind open if I keep finding things that are interesting to post (share):

  • RegSeeker – I didn’t include the link to RegSeeker since I started looking at the link that was noted in the mag. The software is listed as “beta” software, and if you follow that over you end up on hoverdesk.net and since I’m not 100% sure about the software on the site since the latest news is over a year ago.
  • Adobe Reader Speed-Up – This program will look at your Adobe Reader software and change it so it won’t load “all of the extra stuff” that by default Adobe likes to run. I agree that it seems to take forever to get Adobe Reader 6 up on my PC when I click on a PDF file.
  • JDiskReport – This program is really something that I’ve been looking for ever since Notron stopped including this type of function in their utilities. “… a utility that produces a hightly detailed, graphical overview of files and folders on your hard disk.”
  • IE Privacy Keeperis a compact utility that wipes the slate clean every time you start or exit Windows.
  • TurnFlash“enables you to toggle the Flash playback capability in IE on or off anytime you want”. Also, when you go to the site you can find a number of other utilities. I haven’t looked at any of them, but the list is unique.
  • WedDrive” WebDrive integrates WebDAV, FTP, or SFTP servers into the Windows desktop by mapping them to a network drive letter. “ I think this would have been a good tool for my people (back when I had people…. but that’s another story).

Links about moleskine…

28 Sep

After going a round-about way I ended up on these sites talking about moleskin notebooks. Keep around as an idea if I need… nuff said:

  • Moleskine the main Moleskine creations site.
  • Kikerland (which seems to be the US distributer for Moleskine creations)
  • Moleskinerie.com (this seems to be a site that people who use moleskin notebooks are noted, or at least one person who does and he/she posts about others who are known to use them…

Good site, should keep my eyes on…

28 Sep

I can’t remember how I ended up on her (sexy.girl.geek) site. I think I was on someone else’s site and they linked here. But when I scrolled down her site I couldn’t believe a fellow gamer who blogs… cool. Anyway, I figured I should come back here and see what goes on with her. (I put the site in my list of “come back and blog about later” links, which I’m going through now) and while looking at her site I noticed that she mentioned Renfest 2004 picts. Since we just went to the MD Renfest I figured I would check out her picts and see if I can figure out which fest she went to (still scratching my head on that one). But the other cool thing is the photo program she’s using (photostack). Also she has a good design on her blog. I wonder if Lisa would like this type of design if she wanted a blog….
