LDAP Authentication with-in WP

28 Feb

Here is another great Photo Matt post: Photo Matt – LDAP Authentication. As you can tell it discusses the work with LDAP and WP 1.5. Also the first comments back to Matt points to this site where the comment poster is also working on extending the API for authentication with WP to allow for LDAP connections… Another very good post… I can see many applications of these add-on’s.

Web Photos Pro

28 Feb

I was reading my bloglines and came across this article from Photo Matt that references this site (Web Photos Pro %u2014 Software for Photo Bloggers and other Photo Power Users) and I totally agree that it is a very good site and it shows another example of what you can do with WP…

google hacking…

26 Feb

A friend of mine (Matt had mentioned a few weeks ago the act of “google hacking”. And I’ll admit that I hadn’t thought of using google’s database (from web crawlers) as a way of finding out “hackable” information. Well, here is a web site that contains this type of info. Huh…. Something to think about…

A parent’s primer to computer slang

22 Feb

When I saw this title (A parent’s primer to computer slang) I figured that the article was about “computer slang” as in terms about computers and things you can do with them. Well, I was surprised since it’s actually an article about leetspeek… If you aren’t sure what that is then you aren’t 1 of the 1337 (that would be “one of the elite”…. Anyway, this is also an example of Microsoft putting out more and more information that can be looked at as being very helpful for non-techies… (they did a set of “movies” – thru Flash about computer security).

Show and Tell

21 Feb

While I was reading a PC mag I came across an article from a Helen Bradley that covers Windows Media Encoder and according to Helen:

Windows Media Encoder can capture the screen as you perform a task such as editing a photo; in fact almost anything you can do on the screen can be recorded as a video.

It’s a good article… I’ll have to go look at it and see if it will work for when I have to help people and want to show them “how to do this or that” on the computer. I wonder if I can find something that’ll take the AVI (I’m sure since this is Windows that it’ll be in AVI format) into something more generic… (Also, she included this link for more info.)
