I try to not get “on my high horse” on my blog, but this is one time that I feel I just need to “get it out of my system”. While reading my bloglines list I saw this post on Joi Ito’s web site and it struck a cord. I’ve been reading his stuff for years, but this post really got me going again. I must say that I can’t understand why the U.S. Govt wouldn’t be 100% behind this type of proposal. I mean it… why wouldn’t we sign up to be against landmines? Is it “big business” that has the lobyists on their side so the US lawmakers just won’t get behind this? Or is it something that we as Americans are just against? I must say that while I haven’t talked to many people about this topic I can’t belive that most Americans are pro-landminers (if that’s a term I can use)… Anyway… I agree that if there were landmines all over the US soil then we would “do something about this” but because it’s “over there” then it must seem like it is “someone else’s problem”…. *shrug*
U.N. landmine commerical won’t air in US
