Well… I decided to go for a walk today (eating a bad breakfast helped me to decide to do it now) and while I was walking around the track I listened to the The Definitive Word podcast (you can find out more also about at Simply Syndicated site for The Definitive Word site, the previous link is at Podcast Alley). The episode that I listed to today is about “personal image”. It’s a good podcast that can really get thoughts going around on who you are and what you see yourself as topics.
One of the topics is about diaries and how blogs are the diaries of the now. And that’s a good thought. Part of the fact that dairies are normally private and blogs aren’t is one thing, and if you are writing a diary are you doing it for yourself or are you writing it with the thought that someone else in the future may be reading it? I know that when I kept a journal/diary (for the short time I did) that it was written in the idea not that anyone (other than Lisa) might read it but I tried to write it as if I were writing it to someone. I did that mainly because it helped me to frame my words and thoughts… and while that was my approach I haven’t really decided on what approach I want to take with this blog. Beyond the fact that some of it has been where I want to keep track of things for myself (kinda like my own on-line note pad) but also for the one or two other people who might be reading I can’t say that I normally “write for them”… mainly because if I want to tell one of them something I send them an e-mail. So… why do I write this blog? Good question. It’s not like I have a blog like
