I must say I can’t wait for iOS 5 to hit the streets. I’m also looking to start an iPad app development effort. All I’ll say is that my first app will be a game.

City of Bones

A friend recommended City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare. I’m not very far in it yet but I must say that I’m enjoying it. As of now I’d have to include this on my recommend list.

Learned about Pages

So, I got Pages for my iPad about a week ago and just today I finally got around to really looking at the app. I decided to start a document about things going on in the division so I could keep the other division chiefs informed and as I often have my iPad with me it should be something that I could update easily. I started a new doc from one of their templates and I decided I wanted to make a new page. The template comes with a cover page and one page of text and I wanted to make a few new pages as placeholders. That’s when I ran into problems.

I couldn’t figure out how to add a new page. And as simple as things are on Apple (and more so on the iPad) I was really surprised that I couldn’t find any way to insert a new page. Well, I finally got it. It was so simple. There isn’t an “add new page” type of option.
When the system realized that I had more text on one page than could fit on that page it automatically created another page. Just that easy…

Ok. Now I’m going back to working on this document.

Germany

As many of you know I just returned from a trip to Germany where I was doing work. It was great to be back there. I haven’t been in Germany since the late ’88 time frame. Very good food and Beer was balanced with LOTS of work. Very late hours. But I also had a number of people there who really helped and if it wasn’t for them then I wouldn’t have been able to even come close to keeping up with the work.

Working on myself

So… one of my goals is to lose some weight. I had been down to the area where I’m told I should be (just over 200). And right now I want to lose about 20 lbs. I’ve started exercising again and now that we have the elliptical I think that I’ll be able to get back to where I want. We’ll see what we’ll see.
